Frenchie Details:
Gus is a 5-year-old, house-trained boy looking for a loving home where he can be the only pet and enjoy being the “king of the castle.” His family adopted him three years ago and loves him dearly, but after ongoing aggression toward his canine housemate, Ozzy, they have made the heartbreaking decision to find him a more suitable home.
Personality & Family Life
Gus is an affectionate snuggle bug who loves being close to his humans. He enjoys cuddles, walks, toys, sunbathing, and even swimming. Although energetic outdoors, he is happy to relax at home.
He has been wonderful with children, including babies, and is described as calm, patient, and gentle around his family's 4- and 9-year-old children. He also enjoys spending time with adults and thrives on human companionship.
Training & Behavior Around Other Dogs
Gus is fully house-trained and walks well on a leash. He can become overly excited around other dogs and may jump on them or overwhelm dogs that do not enjoy rough play.
Unfortunately, Gus has repeatedly attacked his 11-year-old Boxer housemate over the past three years. Despite his family's efforts to manage the situation through exercise, structured feeding, separation during meals, socialization, and medication, the aggression has continued. The fights can be difficult to interrupt and pose a safety risk to both dogs and the people separating them.
For this reason, Gus needs a home where he can be the only pet, without other dogs or animals in the household. His family hopes that a suitable environment will allow him to feel more settled while giving their senior dog a safer, less stressful home.
Gus's Ideal Home
Gus is looking for a family that can offer him plenty of affection, companionship, walks, and playtime. His ideal home would be one where he can enjoy life as the only pet and receive the love and attention he deserves.
His family loves him deeply, and rehoming him has not been an easy decision. They hope to find the right person or family who will welcome Gus into a safe, loving home where he can thrive.
